Now entering his 25th professional year Mike Scott has been giving personal instruction for players throughout Connecticut. After coaching teams of all ages and being personally involved with two CT baseball schools Mike officially started the Mike Scott Baseball School in 2010. With the addition of instructional videos at mikescottbaseball.com Mike has expanded his teaching to all who have questions and a desire to learn about the game. Thank you to all who have helped, now Mike looks forward to giving back.
Since 1992 I have dedicated my time to help players of all ages learn, improve, and enjoy the game of baseball. The earliest family home movies are filled with me running the bases, hitting the ball, and hanging out at the ball park day and night. There is nowhere I feel more comfortable than being on a baseball field. I cannot remember a time when I was not trying to learn something new about the game, and I still have that passion today. The curiosity of game techniques, strategies, coaching, rules, and instruction still drive me to develop new ideas, refine my previous learning, and try to improve players of all ages and abilities.Growing up I followed the path most young players experience these days. Little league, all stars, that big jump to the full sized diamond, and 4 great years of high school and legion ball. I joined the division I University of Hartford Hawks as a pitcher and was part of the 1990 Fairfield CT Senior Division team that finished third in the nation. Thanks to experienced coaches and being around some very talented ball players I was constantly expanding my baseball education, and learning how to battle against tougher competition. It wasn't until after my college graduation that I went back to my roots and I realized that teaching the game was what I loved the most.
Like many young players my father was my little league coach, but most of all we were a baseball family. In 1992 my father said, "What do you think about us coaching a little league team?" Immediately we jumped on the idea, and I was hooked. We tried to win, but we tried most to help our players improve and enjoy the game. Being young I was also able to make some mistakes, learn about teaching, gain some patients, and get to know players and parents. Since 1992 I have been coaching, giving private lessons, and worked for two area baseball schools. Equally important is the fact I'm still playing in men's league baseball games, experiencing the ups and downs that we all experience on the field. I have coached little league baseball, taught all star teams, managed legion baseball and high school teams. My knowledge of both the big and small diamond has proven effective in my personal lessons which have been steady for 18 years. Each player is unique, and working with the individual is always a challenge I take personally. "What can I do to help you improve and enjoy the game?" That is always my basic philosophy when someone comes to me for help.
I just wanted to thank you for all the time and hard work you put in with the boys, it is greatly appreciated. The hours you put in and off the field are to be commended, it was very apparent that you put a great deal of thought into your coaching. I am very proud of how our team conducted themselves at the games, our coaches showed them fine sportsmanship and how to behave as gentlemen. In today's busy, hurried world our boys were lucky to have you. Thanks for taking the time to work with the team, we are very grateful.

Coach Mike Scott is one of the best pure baseball guys I have ever been around. His knowledge of physical mechanics, fundamentals, and how to play the game is bettered by few. Mike is an ex-college player and has a distinct advantage of being able to display the correct way to play baseball, he walks the walk and talks the talk. If I was going to recommend an instructor to parents or players, it would be Mike! Besides his knowledge and excellent teaching skills, Mike is also a very patient and caring young man.

Mike Scott has been instructing my son's (age 15 & 10) baseball for a few years now. My older son had stopped playing for several years but after receiving lessons from Mike, he made the juniors All Star Team. Mike's training methods and attention to detail is outstanding. He is patient and easily develops a rapport with his students. I would recommend Mike to any parent who is looking for comprehensive one on one baseball training for their children.
